Jetstar destroyed $400 professional camera batteries - & didn't tell me

It appears that Jetstar's systems in your company have a few loopholes. I am not convinced that they really care about customers.

On December 23rd, I flew from Nelson over to Wellington via Sounds Air Ltd. (Because Jetstar no longer provides this service ot the regions in NZ.) Entering the main lounge of Wellington airport, I had 20 minutes to connect with Jetstar flight JQ256 to Auckland. This should have been sufficient time.

Previously, I had searched online for a map of the airport, to pre-determine where Jetstar's booking counter was located. There is no such map available, and to my dismay, there was no clear signage in the airport either. I got caught up in the boarding queues and security checks at the gates, before finally locating the Jetstar luggage check-in. I'd 'apparently' missed my flight (not), and was made to pay an extra $50.00 for the next flight to Auckland.

That's not all. Five days later, after Christmas with my family, I went to work in remote areas of Northland - I am a landscape photographer, shooting images for Australian calendars, books and magazines. On location, I discovered that all 4 lithium batteries were missing. There was a note (attached to email) explaining $400 worth of Canon batteries had been 'destroyed by the airline' ... I was stunned.

Yes, now I realise my mistake in carrying what is labelled as 'dangerous goods' in my suitcase. However, this has never been an issue on my previous flights with Jetstar in the past 12 months.

Q) Why did Jetstar (or AVSEC - NZ Aviation Security) destroy my property without either phoning, txting or emailing me?
Surely this would be a common courtesy? They definitely had my phone number & contact info.
