Sold a flight that did not exist!

In May I purchased 'sale' airfares to take my wife on a long weekend to Adelaide. Booked the accommodation and car - all good. Until I received an email from Jetstar advising that the return flight had to change. Now - I fly a bit and I am use to minor changes, 30 minutes - even an hour - except the flight home was booked for 9:45pm on Sunday night so that we maximised our 3 day stay in Adelaide. Jetstar wanted me to take their 1:00pm flight instead - which basically meant I lost a day. I contacted their less-than-helpful 'customer service' and was advised that I could also take an earlier flight (WTF?) or fly out early next morning (of course I would have to pay the extra nights accommodation) I was also advised I could cancel if this did not suit (how big of them). I sent a complaint via email as instructed and basically got a standard letter reply - 'did you read the terms and conditions etc etc - have you got travel insurance etc etc.' I decided to do a bit of research online and could not find ANY 9:45pm Sunday flights for Jetstar AT ALL! So I sent an email to Adelaide Airport asking when had Jetstar canned the 9:45pm flight? They advised me (fairly promptly I may add) that the 9:45pm Sunday night flight was deleted from Jetstar in March. MARCH?! - why the hell was Jetstar selling flights that did not exist? Rest assured I am the type of person who will whinge long and loud about this. I have contacted 3AW, A Current Affair and others and will keep hounding until I get someone to help me take up the complaint. Jetstar should at least reimburse me the difference for the flights I have now had to purchase from Virgin (or I had to cancel the whole break which was NOT an option). NOT HAPPY! Would appreciate if anyone has a phone number for A Current Affair as they are yet to reply to my email.
