Holiday travel tips

We want to make your Jetstar journey as smooth as possible over the busy Easter and school holiday period.
Here are a few tips to help you beat the crowds and get on to your flight as quickly as possible.
1. Check in online
Checking in before you head to the airport saves time and means you can go straight to the gate (carry-on only) or use our dedicated bag drop queues when you arrive at the terminal (if you have checked baggage).
You can check in online for domestic flights using the Jetstar smartphone app or via our website from 2 days to 1 hour before your scheduled departure time.
(Note: If you can’t check in online for your domestic flight, airport check-in opens 90 minutes before departure at domestic terminals and 3 hours before departure at international terminals.)
2. Get to the airport early
We recommend you head to the airport as early as you can to avoid a last minute rush – at this time of year there’s always more traffic on the roads and longer queues at counters and security.
You can keep an eye on your Flight Status via the Jetstar app or online at Jetstar.com.
3. Don’t let your baggage weigh you down
Ensure your carry-on and checked baggage are within limits and labelled with your name and a contact phone number (ideally a mobile number).
Carry on limits apply, so make sure your bag complies.
Check that essential items such as medicines are packed in your carry-on bag.
It’s also a good idea to ensure items you may accidentally leave on board the aircraft are labelled with a contact number, including items like headphones or personal electronic devices such as iPads.
4. Be aware of potential Customs delays
If you’re travelling internationally from Australia between 29 March and 11 April, please arrive at the airport 3 hours before your scheduled flight time and proceed straight to Customs after checking in.
Employees from the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection will be taking industrial action during this period so you may experience some delays when you go through Customs.
(Note: This industrial action should not affect your travel if you are taking only domestic flights within Australia.)
