Potential delays at Customs
Last Updated: 31/03/2016 05:13 PM
If you are travelling internationally from Australia between 29 March and 11 April, please arrive at the airport 3 hours before your scheduled flight time and proceed straight to Customs after checking in.
Employees from the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) will be taking industrial action during this period. (Note: This action was originally planned for 22-31 March.)
This means you may experience some delays when departing from international airports across Australia.
There may also be some delays through Customs for passengers flying in to Australia.
DIBP will be putting contingency measures in place to limit disruption to normal operations. However, we recommend you arrive at the airport early to allow enough time for Customs processing before your flight.
For more information on the industrial strike action visit the DIBP website.
Industrial action may affect Customs processing at the following airports between 29 March and 11 April:
- Sydney International Airport
- Melbourne International Airport
- Brisbane International Airport
- Adelaide Airport
- Perth Airport
- Darwin Airport
- Gold Coast Airport
- Cairns Airport
- Townsville Airport
