I Purchased a return ticket from Wellington to Auckland to connect with my Emirates flight to Dubai. On the morning of the flight I received a text message saying the plane was delayed 30 minutes, which was fine. After driving to the airport it still displayed 30 minutes delayed. Then when the Flight time came along they announced it was Cancelled. Clearly they would have known at least an hour ago it was cancelled. A mad rush of about 400 passengers including those from previous delayed flights stormed the counter where they offered vouchers to fly with them another time.
I myself was lucky enough to purchase the last remaining ticket on Air New Zealand at the cost of $600.00. Still to this day i have not seen my voucher to fly with jetstar, and when they are asked about it they just say it was never offered to the customers.
Pretty disgusting service, which seems typical of jetstar, and every flight i have had with them are delayed or cancelled. People its not worth saving a few bucks to fly on this airline.

There are plenty of reasons
There are plenty of reasons they may have delayed anywhere from engineering issues to crew illness. Maybe it took that long to fine out the issue couldn't be sorted.
