Flights cancelled - TWICE

We booked two seats on JQ759, a 2:45 direct flight from Brisbane to Hobart for 30th April, 2014 on 10th February.
On 16th March, we get an email changing our flight to two sectors via Melbourne for a travel time of nearly 8 hours. We booked the original flight because it was a direct service and because it met our need to be in Hobart by 12pm.

Jetstar had nothing else to offer except fly the next day or fly the previous day on another long one stop flight and we pay for an extra night in Hobart. They refused to refund.

In the end we decided to fly the next day and while I was on the phone I thought I would check our return direct flight on JQ758 from Hobart to Brisbane (even though Jetstar had not advised of any changes). Guess what? That had also been cancelled. I wonder when they would have told us?

They did agree to refund when I advised them that the reason for purchase was because it was a direct flight and that I insisted on a refund. We had to pay double the original price to book a Virgin direct flight but I think it was worth it.

Qantas has really lost the plot. We used to always fly Qantas but in recent years they have lost us. Our last four Business Class flights to Europe have all been with other carriers.

Now we prefer not use Qantas or Jetstar for domestic flights. I'm glad we don't own any Pacific Peso Qantas shares.

And Allan Joyce wonders why

And Allan Joyce wonders why it's all turning to custard. I've met Jane Hrdlicka and David Hall and they're really nice people but they just seem oblivious to all the issues that are going on. And it's not like they're haphazard occurrences, they're All. The. Time.
