I read a story on here during the week about a man querying his flight fares and after a long hold they changed the fares online so he would have to book over the phone where the price had been fixed in with a large booking fee. I've never had problems with Jetstar itself just the call centre and experienced it myself just now.
Firstly, they are one of the 2 airlines who fly to regularly enough to Townsville and I was looking at a flight 3 months away on a Monday night, off-peak. To get there from Melbourne I had to look at a stopover in Sydney and the website made me book this separately so 3 credit card fees. I called up so that is only get the 1 booking fee to cover it all but the Indian couldn't understand a word I was saying and was charging me $114 more than the flights which I argued for a while and spent an hour on hold trying to get to the supervisor. One of the tactics while on hold seemed to be putting the price up online so that I had to book with them and to do it quickly before the supervisor was available or more will go up. I declined and went to the supervisor anyway who was another Indian and explained the booking fee of $32 had to be charged each flight (not sure where the rest of the $114 came from) and she couldn't do anything.
This only happened 2h into the call and they didn't even hold the original price for me in the end saying I must have changed where I wanted to fly during my call and the cost would be $551 instead of the $387 I had online... even Qantas is cheaper than that with stopovers and using Jetstar flights.
So not excited about the terrible service, no compensation offered, 2h on my mobile phone and the fact I still have no flights to go where I need to go!

i was on the chat function with someone today and the cost of rebooking under a new name leapt up by $90 during our 45min convo.
how can they justify charging extra for a flight that was booked months ago and paid for when you make changes now? daylight robbery!
