Received a text cancelling my flight to Newcastle from the GC but got the info too late to be transferred onto a flight from Brisbane. Took 5 phone calls to finally get through to follow the "Recovery Process" as per the text. After a 39 minute phone call to their 13 bla blah number & the useless customer service person not knowing what the freak to do, I finally get the answer that I am flying out the same time tomorrow. Same everything - flight number, departure time etc. No compensation other than I can stay in the Royal Pines Resort for the night, but I have to pay for it & they will reimburse me the cost of up to $150 for accomodation.
Are you not hearing me Jetstar! Where is my compensation? Oh yes I will get my $150 back, but I have to wait up to 10 working days, write a covering letter explaining everything & I am losing a day of my itinerary which is a very special occasion.
Oh yeah I just got the last available seat on tomorrows flight. "Wine o'clock" looking real good about now......
JQ 493 Flight cancelled..That's poo mate!

Having just been stiffed by Jetstar myself - you need to resolve never to fly with them again and spread your complaint as wide as possible amongst your friends etc.
They get away with ridiculously bad service imo, especially given that Qantas are increasingly converting QF flights to JQ ones.

@ Anonymous, i think you have just pointed out a great reason not to bother spending any money with JETSTAR, they won't even guarantee that they can get you there or will honor the contract they entered into when they sold you a seat... I can understand, strikes, computer melt downs, bad weather, but JS seem to have a high amount of canceled flights, what are these due to ? ?

FYI
EVERY airline has the conditions noted by Anonymous above in one form or another - Every single one of them, and it has been that way since the 60's. Remeber being told about this years ago. The only thing any airline promises you is a ticket, but not that that ticket will take you anywhere, effectively you pay for the potential promise of perhaps being taken to your intended destination,.

Yep, i recieved that text as well my friend, i also spent about 45 mins on the phone, and as a result was put on a plane from the gold coast 6.15pm flight to sydney on the same day, (my attempt to catch the last one or two songs of the concert I had bought tickets to see at Newie Ent Cent and had waited for years to see live) The 6.15pm flight was then delayed until 7.45pm, although noone had advised me, I just noticed noone was boarding the plane, oh and I discivered that they didn't email me the flight itiniary (after i paid $5 for the airport internet time to print out) and after a 3 hour train ride I arrived home in newcastle at 1.30am.
On the train i was wondering how my flight, paid for well in advance, scheduled to land in Newcastle at a suitable time for me to see Disturbed live had resulted in me sitting on an uncomfortable train for 3 hours and mising the gig. The only conclusion i came to that could have avoided this situation (that I thought I had planned for) was not to fly with Jetstar again........I won't even begin to tell my story of flying to Bangkok with Jetstar, too frustrating to repeat
flyingbudda - do your
flyingbudda - do your research. Every airline cancels flights, and most recently in 2010 Virgin Blue cancelled the most flights in Australia. I would also rather take my chances with Jetstar in terms of punctuality over Tiger.

I will spend everyday of my life telling as many people as I can that Jetstar is a 'tinpot' airline. They are dishonest, dishonourable, uncaring, thoughtless & arrogant. My recent cancellation from Maroochydore to Sydney on April 25th was the last straw.
I know other airlines are bad..... but in my book , Jetstar takes top prize as Australia's worst airline.
The 'androids' they employ in their Customer Service Call Centre's ( what an oxymoron this is!!) must have been trained at the "Fawlty Towers" centre of customer excellence.
A thoroughly disgraceful company, pretending to be an airline.
