My very bad experience with Jetstar.

I will never fly with Jetstar ever again. I was travelling from Sydney to Auckland and I was surprised to find that when I arrived Auckland that Jetstar hadn't loaded my bag onto the flight for some unknow reason. It took up to six long days for my bag to finally arrived but during those six days I had a very bad experience with the Jetstar staff. I called up the Skycare (who manage Jetstar Baggage Service) service manager in Auckland and he was so unhelpful and rude. In addition to this a member of Skycare and the Jetstar Baggage Services at the carousels in Auckland Airport, was incredibly rude and handled the situation very poorly. Having said that the staff at the Jetstar call centre in the Philippines were very lovely and helped with the situation. In addition to this, I wanted to thank Mr. Stanley who was the only member of the Skycare team who was very helpful in arranging for our bag to be sent from Sydney and who arranged for the delivery of our bag.

I have always avoided Jetstar

I have always avoided Jetstar like the plague after working at the Melbourne Airport. I constantly saw delays and talked to unsatisfied Jetstar passengers daily. I normally fly Singapore airlines or Thai but this week I was talked into trying Jetstar by a friend who kept going on and on about the money I could save.

My flight was Melbourne to Bangkok on Tuesday the 9th of July. It was due to leave at 2.05pm and we started to board at just after 1pm. After boarding the pilot came on the intercom saying there was a small delay because there was only one towing vehicle available and we had to wait for it. Then after a while he said the operator couldn't get a pin out and they needed to call an engineer just to check all was ok. After about 2 hours he then says the engineer isn't even at the airport and they were still waiting for him to arrive! After about 3 hours of sitting stationary on the tarmac the pilot then comes on saying the other pilot had gone over his hours so they had to call another pilot who was on the way but stuck in traffic.

The crew were clueless and only bought around some drinks after 3 hours after people started complaining. We eventually left at 6.30pm which was 4 1/2 hours late and more than 5 hours after we boarded. My 9.45 hours flight had turned into a 15 hour hell ride. There was a surly older female Chinese steward who had a cold, she wiped her nose with the back of her hand whilst serving out the meals. I was sitting there in shock about how reckless somebody could be about safe food handling. I eventually arrived at my hotel in Bangkok at 2.30am. I had little sleep as I had a morning flight South. Yesterday I broke out into a heavy fever and are now as sick as a dog. The flight was supposed to be a day flight but turned into a night flight. It got very cold and there were no blankets available. I felt for the many children onboard. The whole experience was a total nightmare.

In the 30 years I've traveled I've never experienced these problems with any other airline. I flew Air Asia the next day and they are exponentially better. My advice for people thinking of using Jetstar is this- save a few bob more and use the likes of Singapore airlines. Jetstar are just totally inept, unprofessional and unfriendly. Unfortunately I've got to return using them. First and last time they'll ever see me on one of their planes.

I had the same experience

I had the same experience with Air Asia Andrew and even though they also operate in the "Low Cost" airline industry they are miles better than Jestar. On one occasion when the flight was delayed by more than 3 hours due to inclement weather, they refunded $50 to every passenger as compensation. Can you ever imagine Jetstar doing that? I am 59 years old and I have never come across any organization as disposable as Jetstar.

Well I never even got an

Well I never even got an email offering an apology. Given I had to overnight in Bangkok and spend money on medical treatment I ended up saving very little in the long run. My night in Bangkok turned into just a few hours sleep so I never got my money's worth with the hotel. Running a budget airline doesn't have to mean you are totally hopeless. I'd rather pay a bit more and get better service. So far my experience with Air Asia has been good.
