Paid $710 for two return flight tickets on the 30th of November 2012 from a travel agent The missus then had a change of heart so I went and change it to the 8th of December.
The lady at the travel agent then tried it online as well as calling Jetstar to see which one is cheaper. To do it online cost $160 while through the phone, the Jetstar staff quoted $400.
I ended up forking out $160 to change the date, which means I paid $870 in total for tickets that would only cost me $556 to buy.
What a bloody ripoff. I understand they're just a budget airline but doesn't give them a license to rip people off. I would've been fine if I still have to pay the original $710 for those $556 worth of tickets.
I tried calling Jetstar myself and the Filipino lady pretty much shifted the blame to my travel agent and told me to ask them why I still have to pay $160.
I would love to hear from anyone who has had a similar issue and managed to resolve it to their satisfaction.

I feel bad for you but did
I feel bad for you but did your travel agent tell you when you booked that you were locked in to the date?? If they didn't...then it really is their fault. Jetstar are pretty clear with cheap flights that you can't make any changes. I would totally take it up with the travel agent. Good luck.
I wouldn't call them cheap
I wouldn't call them cheap flights anymore these days, those are standard fares I paid. Oh well, I suppose I just have to take it on the chin.
I guess the moral of the story is, be 100% sure when you're going to travel because this change of date policy and the fees associated with it is a total ripoff, especially when you consider that everything is done electronically by the computers. They're almost, if not as bad as the banks and their fees.
You just need to be fully
You just need to be fully aware of the rules when you book.
