For my 40th birthday I decided to do the Honolulu Marathon. I found reasonably priced flights from Melbourne to Honolulu so I went ahead and booked it along with another friend.
The first cancellation email came through 3 weeks after purchasing the flights so I went online and changed my flight, possibly to suit jetstar as I was now with limited time prior to the marathon in Honolulu.
The second cancellation email came through only 24 hours prior to take off. I quickly jumped online and there was no flights that I could take that would get me to Honolulu with enough time for the marathon.
My friend had booked another flight so she was ok, but me, I could no longer go on my 40th birthday holiday.
I submitted a request for refund form and was told via a customer service person that yes, I can receive my money back because of the cancellation.
Still waiting for my money... I have had so many excuses as to why the money is not in my bank account, each with long waits on the phone and rude excuses. I am so disappointed. My birthday marathon holiday was cancelled and now, no money. Come on... this a serious breech of legal requirements to refund a customer for a cancelled flight??? Read your website terms and conditions Jetstar.
Well, I have now waited over 25 days for money which is legally mine. Their website clearly states that a customer can receive a refund within 15 days.
I have spent hours on the phone, been spoken to so rudely and have cried over this terrible flight disaster. I will never scoop as low as to fly with Jetstar again as this experience had completely changed my opinion on cheap flights.
The majority of my issues have stemmed from speaking to telephone customer service people with no empathy who do not know how to solve problems.
Cancel a flight... refund the money. It is very simple Jetstar.

Staff were rude and not
Staff were rude and not helpful when checking in. Trying to redistribute items as told to, but made difficult when then sent check-in bags ahead prematurely. Any comment made was met with threat to remove off flight. Attitude was officious and condenscending. Confirms previous poor experience and opinion of Jetstar and will not fly with this airline with substandard service.
