While my complaint is quite minor (my morning flight from Sydney to Melbourne was cancelled on Monday 1st Sept 2014 but I rescheduled relatively easily and the new time worked in my favour, purely by chance), the taxi driver who took me to the airport told me that he'd heard a rumour that if Jetstar has a poorly booked flight, they'll cancel that one to make another flight full. Meaning that it costs them less to cancel a flight than it does to fly a half-full plane.
Anyone else heard this sort of thing?

Yes.But I think that is only anecdotal.
Jetstar are still Rubbish.
WE booked five family members
WE booked five family members for flights to Melbourne for November for my sons Birthday 21st now they changed the flights not 1hr or 2 hr difference but 8hr difference and going back made flights later, they have no consideration for families or workers, people are not always able to make changes in their employment. Think about peoples lives when changes are made, all they consider is their profit, which they will lose as we will not book them again for our flights as paying extra and going with Virgin will be our response. Losing money Jetstar?
Think about your customers as they do not come back with such poor service Bronwyn P
