I was flying back from Christchurch to Wellington, used express check-in, it printed out my boarding pass fine with the correct date and time on it, which was Saturday. I got through security fine, and upon entering the gate to board the plan my boarding pass would not scan. The hostess took me aside and said the system was showing I was booked on tomorrows flight, not today's. I asked how could that be and showed her my boarding pass that clearly said Saturday. She told me to go down to their help desk and I would be able to get on the next flight to Wellington. Their help desk was closed with a sign saying opens at 4:30am. Ridiculous. This was an afternoon flight so it would seem they wanted me to wait until the next day anyway! Not one to be kept down I called their help number. The New Zealand number didn't work as it was outside their "buisness hours." I called the international number and the person who answered could barely speak English. It was impossible to explain to her my situation and it ended with raised voices and she hung up on me. I called back to a second person, this time I could understand him, he told me that the next flight would be tomorrow and there would be a fee to change flights. The fee cost more than the flight itself originally had. I explained to him it was the system that stuffed up, that my boarding pass had the correct flight at the correct time, however he did not seem to care at all. I ended up going to the Air New Zealand desk, and explaining my situation to them. They said that the cheapest flight to Wellington was $220, however due to my situation and the fact that I was an airpoints member they sold me a seat for $70. Good on you Air New Zealand, I will never fly Jetstar again in my life.
