Is there one for each state or is this an area that is not handled by each states fair trading. How is it they can get away with such customer abuses and practices that are detailed here. A regular business or even a bank could not get away with such things.

Natural Disasters - More money is sent overseas to aid foreign disaster recovery than will be spent to help our own people in Queensland. What crap.
World Poverty - People are still poor and dying from malnutrition.
Unfair Imprisonment - When was the last time the Australian government was able to free one of our citizen's from a foreign jail? If you know, please advise.
Defence Forces - Being killed daily in Afghanistan and the government simply send a representative to the funeral.
Given the state of these "important things", there seems to be spare time to look at poor service industries like Jetstar.

Shocked by these reports - there are 2 sides to every story. Half the people here actually have no idea how the industry works and expect full service airline services from a low cost carrier. They fail to read their fare rules, and fail to do their research regarding policy before booking.

Many of the comments here are incorrect. The government is in fact very much interested in airlines performance. That includes safety & arrival and departure times. In some case airlines can justify cancellations and delays. However many cancellations are made simply because flights are not full enough to be commercially viable yet the airline was still offering seats on it two hours prior to schedule. As for fare rules there are some rules that under certain circumstances are quite unfair yet under other circumstances they can be fair. What the airline does not do is differentiate between these two circumstances. In this case rules that are unfair can be contested as it is not legal to include in contracts clauses that are in fact unfair. Its not all just a matter of covering ir with the one blanket as jet star would do. the have to be able to see the differences and deal with them accordingly sadly they don't have people of that caliber working there and until the do all passenger will be treated badly. As for the suggestion no compensation should be payable for delays or cancellations i am afraid that the discount airlines dont agree with that comment as demonstrated by their very own actions when the sent a bill for $500,000 to Airservices Australia saying some delays were caused by them. Seems they want one rule for themselves and another one for their customers but thats understandable given what we read on this site.
